Jesus the sacrifice for our sins

Hey Abu!!

Thanks…. and yes everything worked out for good… I arrived safely to NY then flew to San Diego where I stayed with a friend and back to Monterrey where a pile of urgent work was waiting for me –I’m just about to read the e-mails about the scholarship.

On the other hand I don’t want to let more time passes before I send you some of the passages from the Bible I wanted to show you about our last chat of Jesus being the sacrifice for our sins. As you surely know, when we ask God to forgive our debts (our transgresions), we are asking Him for him to pay them, to absorve such debt… and he does it. He took that debt upon himself and die to pay it (for that was the demand of such debt of us). Jesus is the answer for your request for God to forgive you. That is why if you refuse Jesus you are refusing God’s provision for the forgiveness of your sins… for it is only through Him that we can be forgiven for in Him he absorved our debt.

The book of prophet Isaiah was written 8 centuries before of coming of Christ and he fortold about his life this:

3 He was despised and rejected by men,
a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering.
Like one from whom men hide their faces
he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
4 Surely he took up our infirmities
and carried our sorrows,

yet we considered him stricken by God,
smitten by him, and afflicted.
5 But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was upon him,
and by his wounds we are healed.
6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray,
each of us has turned to his own way;
and the LORD has laid on him
the iniquity of us all.

7 He was oppressed and afflicted,
yet he did not open his mouth;
he was led like a lamb to the slaughter,
and as a sheep before her shearers is silent,
so he did not open his mouth.
8 By oppression and judgment he was taken away.
And who can speak of his descendants?
For he was cut off from the land of the living;

for the transgression of my people he was stricken.
9 He was assigned a grave with the wicked,
and with the rich in his death,
though he had done no violence,
nor was any deceit in his mouth.
10 Yet it was the LORD’s will to crush him and cause him to suffer,
and though the LORD makes his life a guilt offering,
he will see his offspring and prolong his days,
and the will of the LORD will prosper in his hand.
11 After the suffering of his soul,
he will see the light of life and be satisfied ;
by his knowledge my righteous servant will justify many,

and he will bear their iniquities.
12 Therefore I will give him a portion among the great,
and he will divide the spoils with the strong,
because he poured out his life unto death,
and was numbered with the transgressors.
For he bore the sin of many,
and made intercession for the transgressors.

In the words of the prophet John when he saw Jesus:

“The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!”

The angel that announced his birth said about him:

“She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”

Jesus, since he was going to take upon himself the sins of the world, he knew that he had authority to forgive the sins of the people:

“When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven.” Now some teachers of the law were sitting there, thinking to themselves, “Why does this fellow talk like that? He’s blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone?” Immediately Jesus knew in his spirit that this was what they were thinking in their hearts, and he said to them, “Why are you thinking these things? Which is easier: to say to the paralytic, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up, take your mat and walk’? But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins . . . .”

Jesus talking about himself once said:

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.”

 “This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins”

and to those who did not want to belive in him he said:

“I told you that you would die in your sins; if you do not believe that I am the one I claim to be, you will indeed die in your sins”

His disciples–those who saw him and walked with him, said about him:

“In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe. The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.”

“Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation— if you continue in your faith, established and firm, not moved from the hope held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant.”

 “He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one whom God appointed as judge of the living and the dead. All the prophets testify about him that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.”

 “Therefore, my brothers, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you.”

Abu… This is why the Christian Faith is so different and so radical for:

“Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12)

for… who else has paid the cost of your sins but God through Jesus?

The good news is that you can receive this free gift of eternal life by believing that Jesus Christ died for your sins, and by accepting him as the Lord of your life and your Saviour through a simple prayer like this:

Dear God, I humble come before you, recognizing what you have done for me to give me eternal life, to be with you. I believe that you send Jesus to pay for my sins, I believe that He died and rose from the death, and Today I accept Him as my Savior and the Lord of my life. Amen.

If you want to know more about this, you can begin to read the Bible starting with the gospel of John, then the book of Romans (you find those in the Bible online athttp://www.biblegateway.com/)

Blessings brother
